Can I laser if i am Preganant
No, we will not provide laser treatments if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. If you are certain you are not pregnant at the time of the service, we will provide a laser treatment. Please note we will not provide laser treatments if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or think you may be pregnant. prevents the rollercoaster like effects patients often experience with other forms of BHRT.
Studies show that patients may see the effects of hormone optimization four weeks after a pellet insertion. After insertion, a consistent dose of bioidentical hormones enters the bloodstream and may begin the process of restoring natural hormone balance. BHRT is customized to the patient’s unique physiology and will work toward establishing a state of hormone balance within the body. We understand that one patient can make a difference, which is why certified BioTE providers tailor every hormone optimization treatment, ensuring each patient has the greatest chance of balancing hormones naturally. Why do I need multiple Sessions
On average there are 300-500 hair follicles per square inch of skin on the body. Fortunately, not all of your hairs are active. With laser, you’ll need multiple sessions to get the most effective results as the hairs need to be in the active hair growth phase (anagen phase) to be targeted, which varies hair to hair. Since not all of your hairs will be in the anagen phase at the same time (even if you see an actual hair) it is important to receive multiple treatments for the same area.
It’s important to allow the natural growth cycle to occur, so please do not wax/sugar/thread in between treatments. For face treatments: 4 weeks. for body & bikini: 6 weeks. This may vary from client to client so once you come in, we can better assess your individual situation.
What do i need to do Before my Appoinment
– For the most effective treatment and to prevent burns, avoid the sun and spray tans 4-6 weeks before and after treatment. This applies to all sessions.
– You must SHAVE the area(s) being treated before coming into your treatment. Failure to do so will result in rescheduling treatment.
– You MUST avoid bleaching, plucking or waxing hair for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment. The melanin-containing hair must be present in the follicle as it is the “target’ for the laser light. No exfoliation, scrubs or chemical peels for three days before and at least two weeks after treatment.
– If you have a history of cold sores or fever blisters (oral herpes simplex) or shingles (herpes zoster) near the treatment area, we recommend that you take an-viral medication on the day before, the day of and the day after treatment.
– RECENTLY TANNED SKIN CANNOT BE TREATED! If treated within 2 weeks of active (natural sunlight or tanning booth) tanning, you may develop hypopigmentation (white spots) after treatment and this may not clear for 2-3 months or more.
– The use of self- tanning skin products must be discontinued one week before treatment. Any residual self-tanner should be removed prior to treatment.
Avoid Re-tin-A, Retinol, Renova, Differin, Tretinoin, Metrogel, Tazorac, Avage, Hydroquinone, Tetracycline, Minocin or any antibiotics for at least three days prior to treatment and for at least two weeks afterward
What do i need to do After my Appoinment
Do not go home and take a hot shower, bath, or soak in a hot tub immediately after your treatment. USE COOL WATER ONLY. DO NOT GO WORKOUT OR PERFORM STRENOUS WORK. REMEMBER TO KEEP YOURSELF COOL. DO NOT EXERCISE FOR 3 DAYS AFTER YOUR TREATMENT!
– Immediately after treatment, there should be erythema (redness} and edema (swelling) of each hair follicle in the treatment site, which may last up to 2 hours, or longer. The erythema may last up to 2-3 days. The treated area will feel like sunburn for a few hours after treatment and can last 5-6 days.
– A topical soothing skin care product such as aloe vera gel can be used to soothe the skin.
– Makeup may be used immediately after the treatment as long as the skin is not irritated.
– Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (darker pigmentation).
– Use a sunblock {SPF 30+) at all times throughout the course of treatment.
– Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. Do not use any other hair removal treatment products or similar treatments {waxing, electrolysis or tweezing) that will disturb the hair follicle in the treatment area fur 4-6 weeks after the laser treatment is performed. Shaving may be used.
– Anywhere from 5-14 days after the treatment, shedding of the treated hair may occur and this appears as new hair growth. This is NOT new hair growth. You can clean and remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth or loofa sponge.
– After the axilla (underarms} is treated, you may wish to use a powder instead of a deodorant for 24 hours after the treatment to reduce skin irritation.
– There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the skin gently, as if you had sunburn, for the first 24 hours.
Return to the office or call for an appointment at the first sign of the return of hair growth. This may occur within 4-6 weeks.
What type of Hair cannot be Treated
Peach-fuzz (very fine, tiny hairs)
– Grey
– White
– Blonde (if you were born a blonde, even if your hair has darkened, the root of your hair may still be blonde causing results to be less effective)
– Light red/strawberry blonde
For these types of hair we suggest threading or sugaring for the face, waxing or sugaring for the body, as alternatives.
Will Laser Help with Ingrowns
Yes! since laser treatments destroy the hair from the root, you will have less hair which will reduce the likelihood of ingrowns (no hair, no ingrown hairs)..
How old do I have to be
Ladies: we recommend being 18 years old for women. if you are younger, we absolutely need you to be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian for the initial consultation & service, as well as receive written consent. since hormones levels (& hair growth) during puberty can fluctuate, we recommend waiting at least 2 years after your first period to receive laser treatments.
Guys: since the hormonal fluctuations from puberty & the hair growth that comes along with this stage of life don’t level out until about 21 years of age, we recommend holding off on laser until you are at least 21 years old to ensure you get the best results (e.g., hormonal changes can cause new hairs to grow & we want to make sure we can target as many of those hairs during your treatments).
